Membership in Aventura Sailing has no prerequisites, but membership can be revoked at Aventura Sailing's sole discretion. Conduct by a member or guest that is prejudicial to the reputation and character of Aventura Sailing and/or Dana Point Harbor may result in suspension or expulsion of such member or guest. Such conduct may include inappropriate, violent or abusive behavior, or simply disturbing or soliciting others with whom they are not personally acquainted. An expelled member may not return to Aventura Sailing as a guest. A refund of the expelled member’s Membership Fee will be at the sole discretion of Aventura Sailing. Any member or members who willfully remove, damage or destroy any property belonging to Aventura Sailing, or to members or guests on the premises of the Clubhouse, will be liable to expulsion and/or suspension or termination of their membership. Every member binds him/herself to abide by the rules, bylaws and regulations of Aventura Sailing at all times upon acceptance as a member. If Aventura Sailing considers that any member’s (or their guests) conduct either inside or outside of the Clubhouse premises is, at its absolute discretion, contrary to the interests of Aventura Sailing and/or Dana Point Harbor, Aventura Sailing may, with immediate effect, expel the member or guest from the House premises and/or suspend or terminate that member’s membership without having to give any reason to such member or guest.

Currently we offer different levels of Membership: Crew - Our entry level membership allows you to participate in our Social Sails as well as giving you access to our Clubhouse. Crew Members are welcome to accompany Charter Members on a sail, however are not permitted to charter a yacht on their own. Charter - Our Charter Membership gives you access to our full fleet of boats (based on ASA certification). Charter Members can reserve our Clubhouse for private events based on venue availability. SailShare - A unique opportunity to access one of our luxury monohull or catamaran yachts, through a professionally managed partnering program, and to experience all the satisfaction of sailing your own sailboat without the hassles, headaches, commitments and financial obligations normally associated with yacht ownership. Affiliate or Reciprocal - Aventura partners with other sailing clubs around the world to offer their members crew and charter privileges here in Dana Point. Corporate - (NEW!) Aventura is partnering with local business and companies to offer an 'umbrella' membership for employees to enjoy crew and charter benefits. Certain restrictions apply and all members must be certified to charter any vessel.

No, quite the contrary. Aventura has a fleet of over 20 sailboats available for charter to its members. This makes Aventura the only organization in Dana Point Harbor that can teach you to sail, give you access to a sailboat, and give you a Clubhouse where you can meet other like-minded individuals that share a passion for sailing.

Membership in Aventura Sailing is open to everybody, whether they sail or not.

Upon joining, you have a 90 day minimum commitment to your membership.

If you are a member in good standing and have been a member for a minimum of one year you have a once in a lifetime chance to put your membership on hold for a maximum of 90 days. Memberships that lapse past the 90 day period or that don't fall under the one time exemption will be cancelled and will need to be reinstated at current pricing by paying the reinstatement fee in effect at the time of reinstatement.

Yes. Although we would most likely be really impressed by your sailing resumé, our insurance requires all charterers to have an ASA certification. You may opt to challenge any and all courses and just take a proficiency test on the water as well as the written exam without taking any of the classes.

Shirts and shoes are mandatory at all times. Anything that Aventura Staff may deem offensive to other members will not be allowed inside the Clubhouse.

Pets are not allowed in the Clubhouse as we have many members that are allergic to them. Service Animals with the proper identification placard are allowed on the patio.

The Clubhouse is designed for adults, so we kindly ask no one under the age of 18 attend.
