Aventura Sailing, based in Dana Point, California, has been in operation since 1976, offering sailing instruction to individuals interested in the world of sailing. As of 2023, we have successfully trained over 16,000 students through our award-winning Sailing Academy. Aventura Sailing aims to provide a comprehensive education for those who may have no prior experience with sailing, ensuring that our students acquire a strong foundation in this lifelong and rewarding sport.

One distinctive feature of Aventura Sailing is the emphasis on safety and an enjoyable learning experience. Unlike some other sailing schools, our introductory courses are conducted on 30 to 32-foot keel boats equipped with wheel steering (as opposed to tillers), inboard diesel engines, and roller furling jibs. These features are designed to instill confidence in students from the beginning of their sailing journey.

Captains
Our experienced and friendly instructors hold US Coast Guard 50 Ton (or greater) Master's Licenses, representing decades of sailing experience. They are award winning instructors, world cruisers, and Coast Guard commanders. Our high standards have earned us accolades in the sailing community, and we can proudly say that most of Dana Point's current sailing community is an Aventura Sailing graduate.

Once you complete your basic course and become proficient as a skipper, you can further your education by attending our advanced courses that will be conducted on our larger vessels and, ultimately, you will be able to charter the exclusive yachts that are in our Executive Charter Program.
Our Home
Dana Point, with its marinas and eclectic boutiques, is a jumping off point for dolphin and whale-watching sailing excursions. Surf waves roll onto nearby Doheny State Beach and Salt Creek Beach, which is backed by a grassy park and trails wind through Dana Point Headlands Conservation Area, which has sweeping ocean views of Catalina Island.

Aventura is a Members Only club. As a member you have access to our entire fleet of pristine sailboats, our Clubhouse for member events as well as your own private functions, and you can enjoy reciprocal Membership with other sailing clubs all over the world.
